Context


Under the hierarchical responsibility of the president of the ICTEAM institute, the research logistician in computer science and applied mathematics will play a supportive role in managing research activities in these areas and actively contribute to increasing their visibility.

He/she will be involved in the development and drafting of international research projects for submission to competitive funding programs.

Additionally, he/she will support the organization of international scientific events and contribute to the scientific life within the institute.

The logistician will take initiatives to enhance the visibility of research activities in computer science and applied mathematics among various audiences: companies in Wallonia, Brussels, and Belgium, civil society, and the general public.

He/she will interact in with academic members and researchers and serve as the primary liaison with university central services for topics related to his/her functions.

The research logistician will also aim to accumulate experience and best practices across various aspects of his/her role to benefit academic members and foster initiatives.

Some of these tasks will pursued in close relation with research logisticians specialized in other fields in the institute.

Activities

 

 

  • Support for fundraising and research project development :

- Assist in the development and drafting of research project proposals
- Establish and maintain expertise in writing project proposals
- Advise academic staff on project structure, budget, or management aspects during project development
- Monitor funding opportunities based on research administration information
- Support academic staff during project defense or negotiation phases before funding
 

  •  Increasing the visibility of research activities within the clusters :

- Proactively identify advertising opportunities for research activities
- Participate in events and visibility operations targeting various audiences
- Regularly gather information on cluster research outputs, format them, and publish them on suitable platforms (cluster website, professional social networks, etc.)
- Coordinate with research administration for advertising operations of research activities and expertise of cluster members targeting companies in Wallonia, Brussels, and the broader northern European region
 

  •  Scientific animation :

- Contribute to the scientific organization of international conferences and congresses at various UCLouvain sites (Louvain-la-Neuve, Charleroi, Brussels)
- Develop expertise in event organization and associated processes to facilitate the establishment of new events based on previous ones
- Contribute to the design and organization of internal events for researchers within the institute, such as regular research seminars or doctoral training activities.

 

Qualifications and skills

 

  • Holding a doctoral degree in a field of science and technology
  • Ability to work with active researchers in various fields of computer science and applied mathematics
  • Ability to work with researchers in fields where opportunities for transdisciplinary collaboration with computer science and applied mathematics exist (especially artificial intelligence, medicine, and health sciences)
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to collaborate constructively with diverse audiences
  • Excellent writing skills in both French and English
  • Excellent oral presentation skills, with a passion for popularization
  • Autonomy, rigor, curiosity
